Hello! I am a uni student and I plan to get my PhD in biology and possibly another master’s degree in Anthropology or Philosophy. I am a musician, a writer, and an artist. I spend most of my time working on songs, my novel, writing poetry, or painting. I currently play guitar, piano, and ukulele, and I’m also a classically trained vocalist. I’m hoping to learn the mandolin and the viola at some point as well. Before I changed careers and went to uni, I was a vet tech, so I love animals! I have a hamster (Oddsock), a lizard (Sango), a cat (Molly), and a dog (Sir Dexter Doodle Wigglebottom - I know, long name). I have many plant children as well!
I like reading and listening to music, as well as taking my dog on early morning walks. I’ll listen to really any type of music, but I prefer 60’s/70’s, goth rock, shoe gaze, and classical. I also enjoy true crime documentaries , Star Trek, and (some) anime, as well as specific tv shows and movies (especially ones that are medieval themed and such). I play video games as well, so it’d be awesome to meet someone to play Animal Crossing with. I also enjoy most of the Elder Scrolls games, WOW, any Fallout game (though 3 was the best to me), and Stardew Valley. I’m not an “avid” gamer but I do enjoy casual gameplay.
I am currently engaged, but we are very long distance right now. He is the only person I really have a relationship with. I struggle with PTSD so it’s hard to attend social events. Plus, with COVID, making and keeping friends hasn’t been easy.
I also feel as though I am a bit of an old soul. I don’t really enjoy superficial relationships or conversations. Small talk annoys me greatly. I miss the intimacy of sitting and writing a letter to someone. Or having deep conversations about our hopes and dreams and all the fantastical ideas and events we experience. As I’m only 21, this has been especially isolating and makes me feel terribly lonely. I don’t feel like anyone appreciates human connection anymore. Call me a dreamer I guess but I want lasting friendships that aren’t surface level. The kind where effort is put in to maintain them and a listening ear is always given on both sides. I don’t have that with anyone, really. I tend to be the one putting in the effort with no reciprocation, which really sucks, so I’ve given up on really being friends with those that I’m around constantly.
