I’m a woman and I was born July 24, 1990.
About me: I like to see new places and meet people from around the world. As I work full-time as a doctor I don’t have as much time as I’d like to have to travel. When I find the time I love to travel and visit interesting places around the world. I like to do handicrafts and grow some vegetables on my balcony.
Kind of pen pal I am looking for: I’m looking for a snail mail pen pal. Someone that wants to share his/her life, thoughts and ideas. I’d love to find new friends and find someone that wants to write on a long-term basis. I’m not mad when you can’t write back immediately, sometimes it takes time to respond. Male/female, old/young if you think we might be a good match, just write ;-) Please no inmates/prisoners.
Languages I can read: German, English, French, I’m learning Dutch at the moment so feel free to write that as well, I’m probably not very good at writing back in Dutch yet though.

I’m a man and I was born March 25, 1982.
About me: I’m from Germany in the National Park Eifel
I especially like people with depth and a conscience life experience. Also important to me is a person who writes to me, has little or no prejudices.
I like to write long letters and would like to get longer letters back. Anyone who can write only one or two pages per letter is unfortunately wrong with me.
I like the letter horses that last for years. I’ve had my longest penpalship for almost 20 years now. In December, it is exactly 20 years.
I like everything that has to do with water, whether it’s rain, swimming, sea or animals living in the water.
I also like bright furniture and lots of light.
I just like a lot of things; it would be too much to write on. This would blow up the server :-)
I do not like unkempt people who already smell the sky in the morning and do not know soap or shower. Or people who go out every day in dirty clothes. (I do not mean painters or others who cannot avoid dirty clothes as a result of work and cannot always change clothes and have to race around outside, but people who are unkempt even in their free time)
What I totally hate are prejudices, which I unfortunately always get off because of my disability, which has happened through an accident (see blog). You always think I could not do it only because I have four tires under my butt. Then motorists cannot shop independently or live independently, if you see the prejudice strict. Unfortunately, I was often able to experience the poor treatment of disabled people. Since I have really really experienced a lot.
I also do not like superficial people and egotists. (Clearly, a healthy egoism is perfectly true, but a true egoist never thinks of others)
I sit in a wheelchair and do wheelchair sports, including roller skating or real races like marathon or super marathon. My goal is also to create the Jacob Way. But with the help of sponsors, whose funds are used for a good cause, Running for Kids. Then I like swimming. Yes, this is also possible with a cross section, as long as the arms are still moving.
I like to make jewelry.
I love reading. My last books were Sophie’s world, Harpe Kerkeling, I am way and mistake in the matrix. I especially like to read books that you have to think about and that you do not just read in two hours.
I write two books. One is not youth free and the other book is a Socially Critical Science Fiction book, which begins with the fact that it has to emigrate, because it has destroyed the earth through its environmental sins and it can no longer be saved. Of course, no one has taken care of a plan because this has been too expensive and now you just stand in front of nothing. I also like to share a reading excerpt with both books!
I also like music festivals very much. I was last at the CSD in Cologne and the jazz days in Düren. I attend every music festival here in the area with what I can somehow afford. Many are free anyway. The wheelchair is not a hindrance, rather an advantage, because I have a seat everywhere :-)
I am a trained diet cook. At that time, I turned my hobby into a profession and I still like to cook for myself and without finished products. Meanwhile also 98 percent meat-free.
My biggest hobby is the aquarium hobby, which I currently unfortunately cannot do as I would like. But I am absolutely sure that it will soon build with and with itself. Because of my accident, I had to put everything down to zero, which would have meant additional stress. At the moment I’m going into nano-aquaristics with shrimp, which makes me very happy even if it’s harder like a “normal" aquarium hobby. But the first successes finally show up.
My last hobby is tinkering with greeting cards.
With me you can write about any topic except sport on TV. I do not watch it and can’t say anything about it. We can discuss everything but I do not need a new religion. Inhuman or right-wing ideas are my only absolute taboo.
Since it is stupid to write a questionnaire in the first letter, I leave you now the field and hope for a speedy reply.
I hope you have a nice week. Here the snow makes some struggle. Mail doesn’t come waste is not taken away and I cannot go out because of too much snow. But I like snow. The special sounds, the special light and so on.
Since most people ask me why I’m in a wheelchair, I’ll write it down right now :-) Well, I had a comminuted fracture in my leg. This was overlooked without really looking at it. For seven years I walked around with it and various doctors had made me out to be a malingerer. With time the bone healed badly. The whole thing happened in 1998 and I had a torn ligament in my foot, but since I was a malingerer, they didn’t even want to examine me thoroughly. All of a sudden everything I said didn’t count anymore.
Then one day, seven years later, I was standing almost exactly on a scaffold and had to work on a few windows on the outer facade of a house. Unfortunately, my leg could not withstand the strain and broke without warning. Therefore, I simply fell from a height of nine meters onto my back.
Thereby some vertebrae broke and nerves were injured. In addition, later injuries of the band slides came.
Briefly summarized three times correctly bad luck had. Now I have an incomplete cross section. Now and then I can move a leg but without feeling and without strength. So, it would not hold me anymore, because the maximum thrust over the ground is just 450 grams.
All other bodily functions except fine motor skills which I have never had are perfectly fine.
I really like writing with fountain pens and self-designed stationery. (painted or photos rearranged as stationery and printed most times)
So now I have to cook some soap (yes soap I do it myself because of allergy) but I really love DIY anyway)

I am an Englishman living in northern Germany with an interest in writing long and involved letters to anyone with an interest in reading, writing, literature, philosophy, history, the Arts, photography and life in general. I collect antique photographs as well as books, pepper my letters with quotations from obscure texts, delve into the intricacies of language - while avoiding religion and politics as much as possible - and meander through a subject for several pages in an almost benign manner, without managing to stick to anything for too long.
Kind of pen pal I am looking for:
People of any age who are willing to write longer letters, have no problems with almost any subject, live with their eyes and minds open, and do not see age difference as a problem, more as an opportunity.

I’m a woman and I was born March 20, 1987.
About me: I’m an early childhood educator who ended up working advertising, love to travel and have been all across Europe so far, listen to way too much music for a grown-up and have no control over my ADD-brain. Yet, in the midst of my chaos, I’d really love to hear from other people’s lives. I’m a little nerdy, an introverted extrovert, and love my cats. They just never make much sense when they answer back. So, I care to read about all sorts of things.
Kind of pen pal I am looking for: Someone who doesn’t mind me answering a week late and still just loves to chat. I’m interested in getting to know people, be allowed to peek into their lives and let them partake in mine through our letters, in developing a friendship. If you have anything in your life you care about, I’d love to read it. But I’m not searching for a romantic partner.

Jennifer
I’m a woman and I was born March 15, 1985.
About me:
Often, I think I’m not the typical pen pal that people want to have...
Why? Because I want a regular writer and not a friend who writes all six months?
Because I have the right feeling when people try to fool me?
They have no time to write in six months even if they don’t work and are always at home?
How can someone be so extreme busy that there is no time for six months? I would never put a letter somewhere on the desk and wait such a long time with my answer, I would just feel ashamed after such a long time.
I understand if there are health problems and people have hospital visits and doctor visits....don’t get me wrong....
But if I really want to write and keep in touch, I find a way and if not, I find excuses.
I’m vegetarian and animal lover and don’t smoke and don’t drink and I’m not the typical shopping and make up woman.
I’m maybe not stylish because I don’t buy expensive brand names but I’m always happy to get a bag full of clothes for less money or even get things for free.
My life is often boring if I don’t work because I have an anxiety disorder and can’t do all the things I want because my fears often stop me.
Travelling is my passion because it means freedom for me to go out and see something different for a few days. Esp. Scandinavia and Croatia. Have been to Croatia often.
I never walk with the crowd and don’t do what others do just because someone tells me it is right.
Kind of pen pal I am looking for: Females only
I’m here for snail mail pen pals worldwide.
No Emails only
No religions
No politics. I don’t know much about it and don’t want to talk about it
No scammer or visa searcher.

Sofie
I’m a woman and I was born June 19, 1968.
I am in a long-term relationship, no children
What I like: I enjoy gardening (unfortunately my garden is just a balcony, but it’s my “jungle”). I love taking photographs, trying new recipes, craft things, browsing old bookshops, flea markets and thrift shops in other places or countries, watching TV, reading. I like other things too - some of them deeper, some not. More often I try to say "yes", when something interesting or challenging comes in my way, because one does not know if there will be another chance to do that (oh, how weird sounds that!)
Who I am: I am a fairly quiet person until I get comfortable with someone new, I am not very chatty. I prefer deeper conversations rather than surface level topics. I don’t mind spending my time alone. I am loyal person; I value kindness and hate injustice. I have a good sense of humor and I can be sarcastic at times. I do not like shallow people and tiny crawling creatures. I think I have an enquiring mind; I am compassionate and sensitive (they say), and I have a hard time with such “about me”-thins. I think I am a pretty normal human being.
My favorite things: the ocean, daisies, bacon, trees, tea, donkeys
Kind of pen pal I am looking for: Someone I can trust, a sincere person. Someone I can talk to well and learn from. Writing about the life one leads, about good and/or bad days, things that matter to you, your ideas and views. Maybe a friendship will develop.
I am not looking for a relationship, nor do I want to write to prisoners. Scammers and weirdos will be ignored.
Female only, about my age and up

Sophie F
I’m a woman and I was born July 1, 1992.
Hello world!
Who wants to spread some joy in those dark times we live in? Since we’re all stuck at home anyway, why not try for a new pen friendship via good old snail mail?
My name is Sophie and I’m currently doing my PhD at a German University and work part-time as a freelance editor. In the times before the big C, my life was busy, with lots of stuff to do - these days my boyfriend and I pretty much just hang around in our apartment, which tends to get a little boring, despite the chance to read, watch movies, play music (I play the piano and the cello) and try my hand at different craft projects. I even took up some literary writing, but all of this doesn’t quite replace social contacts, travelling, going hiking in the mountains or visiting friends and family. So I thought this could be my chance to get back into pen palling!
I’ve been pen palling for quite a few years, but it has become quiet around my old pen pals. And frankly: I miss it! Sitting down, gathering my thoughts and having some time just reflecting about my life or that of my pen pal, a good discussion or an agitated rant ... it’s soothing and interesting and really broadens my horizon. And the following ritual of taking the written pages to the post box and waiting for a reply makes it a special experience, much more relaxed and slowed down than an e-mail or a WhatsApp message. If you feel the same way, I would love to share stories and ideas and discussions and whatever else you would like to talk about. Your age and nationality and gender don’t matter to me at all! I can relate to pretty much any topic - I might not always have the same opinion as you do, but there are no taboos with me. You can talk to me about almost everything - but you might have to endure that I’ll disagree on some things. So hit me with stories about your lizard, your stamp collection, your last expedition to Antarctica or view on the state of this world (and how we could make a better one on Mars)!
What I can offer is long letters with insights about me and my country, random facts about my PhD-topic, recommendations of B-movies and Metal music, doodles and puns and transcripts of long-winded thinking processes on things that occupy my mind. I would love to share conversations with a pen pal that go below the surface and deal with more essential (or maybe even existential) topics, too. I do realize that you can’t force that kind of relationship, but I think it’s worth giving it a shot!
So, who’s up for a good old-fashioned conversation on a piece of paper? Write me an e-mail and we can exchange addresses and figure out who will write the dreaded first letter. You can write to me in English, German and Norwegian (and Swedish/Danish if you’re okay with me writing back in Norwegian). I also speak French and Icelandic, but not quite as fluently as the others. Even less fluent is my Japanese, but it’s there, so I would actually be grateful for a Japanese-speaking pen pal for a little practice (and don’t worry: We could do most of it in English and you would only have to endure short passages in my horrible Japanese).
PS: Please send me a message worth replying to. If I get one sentence saying “Hi, let’s be friend” or something along those lines, I won’t reply. Seriously, we want to start off a pen friendship, that’s all about writing! If you can’t be bothered to write much or anything of interest from the beginning on, how is it supposed to work?;) Please think about that before dropping me a two-line-message.
Languages I can read/write: English, German, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, French, Icelandic and Japanese.

Benjamin Wegenk
I’m a man and I was born April 27, 1981.
About me: I’m happily married and father of two. I’m interested in history, politics and baseball (Let’s go Mets!). I’m a member of a union and Amnesty International. In addition, I’m involved in the Social Democratic Party. For those for whom it may be important, even though I’m baptized as a Protestant, I call myself an Agnostic. But I adore Bob Dylan for that. And I have a black sense of humor.
I’m always impressed how much effort many people put into their letters. But I’m not one of those who exorbitantly embellish their envelopes or write their letters lavishly with the calligrapher. I won’t exclude anyone who insists on sending me such letters, but you shouldn’t expect that from me. I’m also against the exchange of gifts. For me, it depends more on the content and the conversation itself. I value that more.
I have a romantic notion: I would like to send my letters on a long, arduous journey that finds its end somewhere, far away in the deserted expanse of Montana; somewhere in the remote forests of British Columbia or even on the other side of the world. But it wouldn’t affect that if my letters landed in a mailbox in New York City (e.g.).
Experience has shown that I will not be able to write weekly. Usually, I try to answer letters as quickly as possible. Writing takes time for me, because I tend to write longer letters. And it would be nice to receive longer letters too. I really admire the people who manage to maintain a wide variety of pen friendships at the same time. I couldn’t do it.
Kind of pen pal I am looking for: I am looking for a snail mail pen pal in the ages of 30 to 50, preferably from New Zealand, Northern America Australia or Japan. The gender doesn’t matter. My goal is, to build a long-lasting, permanent pen friendship.
I would like to exchange about various topics, including politics as well as the everyday life. Like a loose conversation in a pub.
It’s imperative for me to share basic values with my pen pal. Letter writing is a very time-consuming endeavour for me and I wouldn’t like to spend my energy on acting out only dissent. Friendships are usually based on common ground. Which doesn’t mean that different attitudes are excluded. Friends disagree and argue sometimes. But they will always find themselves in what they have in common. In order to avoid disappointment and bitterness on both sides, I’m very careful about possible similarities.
So I would be happy to get to know you a little with an email or two before we finally exchange our postal addresses.
Please note that I’m not looking for a romantic relationship. Obviously fraudulent emails will be deleted immediately. I will not answer emails from South America or Africa. I ask for understanding.

I’m a man and I was born January 29, 1994.
About me: Hi there, I’m Fabian, a Polish man living and studying in Germany. It’s been 14 years now since I moved to Germany. I am a guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously, if not needed, and likes to laugh about anything, especially myself. There are many things I like and I’m not sure if I can name them all, but let’s give it a try: music of all kinds, especially rock and metal(though I am open-minded to any kind of music), fantasy (in any media: books, games, movies, series etc.), writing (I write my own fantasy story and hope that I can publish it one day), medieval and mythological stuff, video/board/table-top games and Pen and Paper, anime and manga (I have to catch up... maybe you can recommend me something), linguistics and learning new languages (I’d like to learn more Japanese, Swedish and Russian) and probably even more. Also, I started to learn drawing and I want to do digital drawing as soon as possible. I am very easy to get excited and/or interested about new things.
Kind of pen pal I am looking for: I’d like to get to know and become friends with people from all over the world. Gender and age do not matter for a great friendship. Also, I’d like to learn more languages this way.
Languages I can read: Polish, German, English, some Swedish and Russian, a little bit Japanese
Languages I can write: Polish, German, English, Swedish.

Hannah Roth-Schuste
I’m a woman and I was born November 10, 1988.
About me: A human being who is in search of a curly purple hippo. :D no... of course there is no such thing as a curly purple hippo.... I suppose? XD
Pen palling is just like any other physical friendship, the interest and the passion should be at mutual level, too far of disparity in interest to work in the relationship is unfairness to either party. If you find my letter to be no longer compelling or engaging or no longer coloring your day or that it doesn’t make any sense to carry it further then there is nothing wrong with parting ways.
Kind of pen pal I am looking for: any like-minded person with no intention of scamming in any way. my youngest (non pen pal) friend is 19 years old college student and eldest is 87 years old lady, therefore if you think we will make a good pen pal ship then I hope you won’t let your age or mine to be the hindering factor.
It is however, important to keep it in mind that there has been plenty of proud-and-fully-besotted parents, or pet owners, or lovers or teenagers or any kind of ideologists near me that can only talk about how cute their babies or dogs or cats or giraffe or boyfriend or girlfriend is (funny how no one talk about how cute their spouse is, eh? XD), or the activists that can only talk about their belief systems or political views all the time, so if I want some dose of that I’ll go to them and not wait weeks through mail. ;).
A healthy amount information here and there is fine but if it is going to be the main course of your letter then its going to get very old very quickly. (there was a 12 year old that had been able to initiate the first theater club at their school and won their very first championship in their debut performance, or a 16 year old that bust a corruption scandal in her school and brought down the guilty party..now that is kind of individuals i would delightfully be correspondence with)
I look forward to your nice first contact via email and hopefully we will have even nicer memories through snail mail.
